Tilley Row
Tilley Row, a name inspired by a passing street sign Tilley Road, in designer Erin Locks, current city of residence Brisbane, has indeed seen the designer driving the road to success with her romantic garments.
Strong lines and feminine fabrics fall delicately capturing the dark mysterious nature of femininity. Soft pinks dart through layers of black, and ruffles flutter effortlessly amongst the structured lines of boleros, body suits, tights and hot pants to make up the debut collection of Tilley Row, Moon Goddess.
The collection and the label debuted appropriately in the Debut section of Fashion Exposed earlier this month and prior to that Erin Lock found herself shortlisted for the Moda Italia award to win a scholarship to Italy. Erin left her hometown Bundaberg and moved to Brisbane to explore and refine her love for fashion, graduating in 2005 from the Metropolitan Institute of TAFE with an Advanced Diploma in Textiles Clothing and Footwear. Since then she has been designing for herself and working to establish her own label. The hard work is paying off in the rich contrasts of softly structured garments that are reminiscent of the feeling of little girls playing in their mother’s wardrobe and emerging with a sense of beauty that is entirely honest and powerful in all its delicate innocence.
Erin has managed to capture femininity as a feeling not merely an aesthetic. Sharp angles and luxurious curves float and mingle seemingly murmuring in the tones of the soft whispers that pass between lover’s lips in dark romantic corners. ‘Moon Goddess’ is as delicate and allusively spellbinding as the dark shadows that the moon casts.
Take a walk down the road with Tilley Row, the scenery is fantastic!
